A cable whip is a certain type of cable adapter, consisting of a multi-pole connector, which transitions into several lines, each with a single connector. Mostly we offer these adapters in combination with our breakout boxes.
The feed of several participants is done via the connectors of the box and is led together to one connector (e.g. D-Sub), so that all signals are led via the cable whip to the corresponding end devices. This may be, for example, a measuring device.
Such an adapter can consist of 2-10 single cables, whereby the limitation mostly results from the diameter of the used cable type. 10 cables with a large diameter tend not to fit through the grommet of the D-Sub housing, so it would be advisable to use a thinner cable here.
The D-Sub connector is available as a standard version in DB9, DB15, DB25 and DB37. The cable length as well as the choice of connectors are entirely based on your application, so we can manufacture cable whips exactly to your requirements from as little as one piece.
D-Sub Kits
Do you need a D-Sub adapter to bundle your signals? No problem with our D-Sub kits!
These offer you all the individual components you need for a reliable measurement result: A D-Sub connector, a circuit board and a suitable housing with a shrink sleeve with internal adhesive for the cable outlet.
The circuit board solution is optimized for maximum distances between the individual contacts and guarantees consistent quality. This is also ensured by the high-quality connectors and housings.
Are you interested in a finished cable breakout with one of our D-Sub kits? These are available in your desired configuration starting from just one piece. Please feel free to contact us.
Cable assemblies in our Cable configurator:
Choose from over 500 different connecotrs as well as over 140 different types of cables to suit the combination you need. With our interactive cable configurator, you can easily assemble your individual cable using pictures and related information.
With the help of our D-Sub kits, you are guaranteed to achieve consistent high quality and spacing inside the housing, even with thin coaxial cables. They provide you with everything you need to make your own D-Sub adapter or cable whip.

The circuit boards with optimized layout are just thick enough to fit between the contacts, saving you the hassle of soldering the individual cables to the D-Sub connector. On our homepage you will also find all information about the pin assignments in a clear format.
Available kits and connectors: DSub 9, DSub 15, DSub 25, DSub 37.
Tip for the right cable:
When a PCB is used in conjunction with a coaxial cable, the coaxial cable must have a temperature resistant dielectric. Usually cables with a FEP sheath such as RG316, RG178 or Multiflex 86 are recommended.
Coaxial cables with D-Sub connector easily created!
With us you can have your kit with D-Sub on coaxial cable with matching plug or socket according to your ideas from one piece also manufactured by us.

Our passive signal connection box is equipped with BNC sockets as well as a 37-pin D-Sub socket. By default, the signals are all passed on 1:1 to the pins of the D-Sub connector. Signals can also be transmitted over longer distances using a suitable connection cable. The common connection via the D-Sub connector enables the connection cable to be changed quickly without having to disconnect an individual BNC connection.
We offer our breakout box in various standard versions with 6, 8, 12 or 18 BNC sockets. The connection is made via a standard D-Sub female connector or according to customer specifications.

Suitable connection cable for your D-Sub Breakout Box
The connection box makes it possible to tap all signals via a BNC socket. Either a standard 37-pin D-Sub cable or a cable whip specially manufactured by us can be used for this purpose.
The clever distribution of the measuring signal to the measuring device
With the arnotec connection box, you have the possibility to distribute your measurement signals reliably and simply. The device can be installed and reconnected in a completely uncomplicated way, so that the monitoring of different measuring points is no challenge. Flexible mounting, for example in a control cabinet or on the wall, facilitates integration into your application.
Since each connector is insulated from the housing as standard and each cable is shielded all the way to the end, our connection boxes offer you the highest possible quality and freedom from interference.
Matching labelling on the unit and on the cable ends minimises the risk of confusing the connections and ensures uncomplicated installation of the breakout box.
As standard, we manufacture breakout boxes with 4, 6, 8 or 10 BNC sockets, but we are happy to deviate from this to ensure that our device meets your requirements even better. The number of connections as well as the connector and cable types and the cable length can be selected as far as possible. Please do not hesitate to contact us, preferably using the ready-made enquiry form on our homepage.
Advantages
quick and easy distribution of measuring signals
several measuring points can be monitored cost-effectively by simply reconnecting the measuring device
Interference (e.g. from external radiation) is minimised by shielding the cables
Easy mounting of the box in the control cabinet, test bench or car
Characteristics
Robust housing, use of high-quality cables and connectors as well as solid design.
all cables are individually connected to the connectors in the box and are practically brought together via a PG screw connection and a braided hose
each connector can be clearly assigned via the labelling on the unit and on the cable
They can be used more than once and are therefore perfect for storing and transporting different high-quality cable assemblies or for protecting our Breakout boxes.
Durable protection against dust and protection – cover caps
Now discover another way to protect your connectors from external influences with our cover caps. In industry, these are mainly used to shield dust and moisture and are therefore an ideal cover for unused connectors, e.g. in our breakout box with multiple connections.
Most caps are made of metal and have a built-in seal to prevent moisture ingress. You can always find more information in the corresponding data sheet of the cap.
For convenient handling, our cover caps are also optionally available with chains so that they do not get lost when not in use. Every cover cap in our range is waterproof according to IP67 or IP54.
Protect your cable assemblies with our new caps now!
