The difference between single wire and stranded wire

If you deal with the subject of cables, sooner or later you will come across the terms wire and stranded wire. But what exactly is the difference and what are the advantages and disadvantages? This article takes a closer look at the main features of wires and strands and highlights the different areas of application and their advantages.

Corrugated Cable – Cellflex®

Wellmantelkabel Cellflex

Corrugated cables with low loss properties, such as the Cellflex® variants, are usually also referred to as semi-flexible cables. In addition to a strong electrical performance, they also have an extremely robust design, which makes them ideal for applications in radio systems. Due to their PE jacket, they can also be used outdoors, where they are used for mobile phone base stations, HD TV and mobile internet, among other things.

A side effect of the special design with corrugated shielding is that this type of cable is only suitable for fixed installation. An application with frequent movement frequency is

IP protection types for coaxial connectors

What are IP protection types?

The abbreviation IP stands for International Protection or also Ingress Protection (protection from intrusion). In our case, the protection class for coaxial connectors provides information about their suitability for certain environmental conditions. This classification clearly clarifies whether a connector is suitable for outdoor use, for example, or whether it could be damaged by penetrating moisture. Incidentally, similar requirements for cables are explained in the article “Jacket materials for coaxial cables”. The individual protection classes are defined within Germany according to DIN and internationally according to ISO.

How is the IP code composed?
